Arizona homeschool requirements
Overview
Arizona parents file a one-time affidavit of intent with the county school superintendent within 30 days of starting homeschooling. Instruction must include reading, grammar, mathematics, social studies and science. A.R.S. 15-802 does not set testing or record-keeping requirements.
Legal pathway: Homeschool under A.R.S. 15-802.
Notification and registration
File an affidavit of intent with the county school superintendent stating the child is being provided instruction in a homeschool: the child's name and date of birth, the current address of the school, and the names, phone numbers and addresses of the persons with custody. File within 30 days of starting; it is not required again unless homeschooling ends and then resumes. Notify the county superintendent within 30 days if instruction ends; file again within 30 days if it resumes. A parent who does not wish to begin until the child is eight may file an affidavit saying so.

Supports Arizona's English / language-arts requirement for children still learning English. It does not replace a full grade-level language arts course; use it alongside one.
Instruction time: No minimum days or hours stated in 15-802 for homeschools.
Testing and assessment
No testing requirement appears in A.R.S. 15-802.
Record-keeping
No record-keeping requirement appears in A.R.S. 15-802.
- Keeping simple records and work samples is still a good habit, for example for transcripts or a later school transfer.
